If you want to join the military, then you need to take the Military Aptitude Test. It is called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB consists of many timed aptitude tests.

The AFQT is divided into the Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Math Knowledge (MK), and Verbal Composite (VE) doubled. The following are the lowest AFQT scores for each branch in the military: Army, 31; Navy, 35; Marines, 31; Air Force, 36; Coast Guard, 45.

Three Different Kinds of Military Aptitude Test

There are three different kinds of the ASVAB. They are the Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), Mobile Examination
Test -site(MET -site), and the Student ASVAB.

The Computer Adaptive Test

The Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) is the most popular ASVAB test taken by recruits. It shows your scores and records your answers. The test is taken at a Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). It roughly takes about
an hour to take.
With the CAT, if an answer is correct, the next question will be more challenging. If the answer is incorrect, the next
question is less challenging. Once you choose an answer, it can’t be changed.
The CAT has a time limit of 134 minutes in total. Once a subtest is completed, you move on to the next section
automatically. After finishing the test, you are allowed to leave the test room.

The Mobile Examination Test -site

The Mobile Examination Test -site (MET -site) is taken at a Mobile Examination Test site. It is for the purpose of enlistment in the service branches. You must be referred by a recruiter to take the test.

The MET -site is a paper and pencil test that allows you to change your answers. If you change your answers, try not
to leave marks so that the machine won’t mark you incorrectly. It is a timed test. The MET-site usually takes a few
hours to complete. You may leave not after you finish the test. It is divided into eight subtests.

The Student ASVAB

The Student ASVAB is for the career examination of high schoolers and college students. It is generally taken in high schools, colleges, and vocational schools.

The test results are sent to the school for you and your counselor to see. You will also get an Interests Inventory (Find Your Interests). Your AFQT scores are on this test and can be used to enlist in any of the military service branches. It is divided into eight subtests.
